Tattoo Aftercare Information

Method One: Medical Bandage Wrap (Tegaderm/Saniderm ETC.)

Week one

Keep the medical bandage on for 3-5 days. It is waterproof, so you can shower normally. Fluid buildup (ink sac) is normal; do not puncture the film to drain it.

DO

  • Leave the bandage alone
  • Shower normally with it on
  • Watch for leaking edges or redness
  • Remove under warm running water
Week two

Remove the bandage under warm running water by slowly peeling the edge. Once removed, switch to the Soap and Lotion routine until the skin is fully smooth.

DON'T
  • Remove the bandage too early
  • Exercise excessively or sweat profusely
  • Peel it off dry without water
  • Puncture the film to drain fluid
Long-Term Care

Treat the area like a fresh tattoo for the first month. Avoid direct friction from heavy clothing and continue using high-quality sun protection and hydration.

Method Two: Standard Wash + Lotion Routine (Dial Gold + Plain White Lotion)

Week one

Week 2-4

Long-Term Care

Wash your tattoo with Dial Gold (or mild fragrance-free soap) 3 times daily using lukewarm water and clean hands. Pat dry with a fresh paper towel. Apply a very thin layer of plain white, fragrance-free lotion.

Wash 2 times daily. Apply plain white lotion 2-3 times a day if the skin feels tight or dry. Flaking is normal; do not peel. Wear loose clothing to avoid friction.

Once healed, continue hydration with daily moisturizer. Always apply SPF 50+ in the sun to keep colors sharp and prevent fading. Healthy skin preserves your ink.

DO

  • Use clean hands only
  • Wash with Dial Gold or mild soap
  • Apply plain white, fragrance-free lotion
  • Pat dry with fresh paper towels

DON'T

  • Pick, scratch, or peel flakes
  • Use scented or colored lotions
  • Soak in baths, pools, or hot tubs
  • Expose to direct sunlight
